Welcome to the adventure! Two little things before we start... Firstly, all the pictures have captions, which can be read by hovering your mouse cursor over them. Secondly, most of the pictures can also be clicked on to reveal a larger version.
Okay, let's begin!
QF32 left Heathrow aboard the Lord Howe Island, a QANTAS Boeing 747-400, on October 2nd. After passing over various parts of Europe and Asia, we had a good view of Kuala Lumpur on the way to a brief stop in Singapore, and then an equally good view of Bali and one of its huge volcanic cinder cones, and then various salt flats, and Ayers Rock and the Olgas on our way to Sydney, having subjected me to the A-Team movie and Iron Man 2 (both pretty dire!). We touched down through cloud and therefore didn't get a view of the opera house or harbour bridge.
We were met at the airport and transferred to our hotel, the Medina Executive, with a semi-decent view of part of the city. The hotel was situated in the historic Railway Square, and was converted from a post office.
