Gizmo does New Zealand - November 25

ZK-OKE at Gate 41 of Hong Kong airport
Flight NZ391 left on schedule just after midnight local time.

On the first leg I tried to snatch a bit of sleep, and watched a couple of films2. We didn't have too long to wait at Hong Kong before we were off again on the final leg of our voyage. I managed to watch another four films3 until at the end of a very, very long flight we had some nice views of Essex and surrounds, including my home town and office, as we headed towards Heathrow.

Southend-on-Sea; you can see the pier sticking out into the Thames estuary, and the airport on the right

Wickford, Benfleet, Canvey Island and Basildon

Dunton

Warley

Looking up the Lee Valley past Wiltham Abbey towards Hoddesdon and Harlow; White Hart Lane is at the bottom right

Looking east towards Dagenham

And that was it; after a smooth taxi ride back, I pulled my car out of my parents' garage, drove home... and slept. A lot.

Best holiday ever. The only disappointing bit was having to come home and go back to work.

1 Another 777-200ER, this time ZK-OKE.
2 Horrible Bosses (better than I expected) and Cars 2 (most amusing, like the original).
3 Captain America (thoroughly unconvinced), Green Lantern (what the heck was that all about?!), The Next Three Days (best not to examine the plot too hard) and Bad Teacher (mildy amusing).
